It is a busy time of the year for concerts……………..
In August we will have here in N.Z.,on tour, Australian Guitarist Stephanie Jones.
She will be giving one concert in Auckland.

Stephanie Jones’ childhood resonated with the sound of music from a very young age.
She played many instruments, beginning first with the piano, and progressing to the violin,
viola, saxophone and flute. However, it was the guitar with its captivating range of sounds
and great versatility that especially appealed to her, and it quickly became her first love.

Stephanie is currently in Germany studying a Masters in Classical Guitar Performance with
Thomas Müller-Pering at the prestigious University of Music Franz Liszt.
 
In 2014, Stephanie graduated from the Australian National University with First Class
Honours. Over the previous four years, Stephanie was studying with the renowned Timothy
Kain and Minh Le Hoang. Following this, she was awarded a Friends of the School of Music
Transition Scholarship to assist her in a series of projects following her graduation.
 
Stephanie underwent a successful Australian-Wide Tour which helped launch her new CD
“Colours of Spain.” She was also awarded the Clifford Hocking Scholarship as part of the
Mount Beauty Music Festival, and nominated for the Freedman Fellowship through The
Music Trust. In 2015, Stephanie was awarded an Australian Music Foundation Scholarship,
which included a performance at Wigmore Hall in London.
Stephanie has released two albums, “Colours of Spain” (2015), and “Bach, the Fly, and the Microphone” (2009).

Duo Vela performs enchanting music from across the seas, giving audiences a taste of the sounds, rhythms and cultures of different lands. Their programs range from sultry, rhythmic and daring tango music from Argentina, to soaring, colorful and evocative music from Australia.

 

Duo Vela has brought their exciting programs to venues across the United States east coast, including the Eastman School of Music, George Eastman Museum, Robin Hixon Theatre, Avaloch Farm and on both WXXI’s Backstage Pass with Julia Figueras and WRUR’s Open Tunings with Scott Regan.

 

This summer, Duo Vela will be venturing across the seas, performing around twenty-five concerts in China, Australia and New Zealand. Concluding this they will perform at the National Flute Association (NFA) Convention in San Diego, one of the world’s largest flute events. Duo Vela has commissioned leading US composer John Anthony Lennon to write a substantial work for flute and guitar, which will be completed in 2017-18.

Peter is an accomplished concert guitarist. He completed Master of Music Degree with First Class Honors in Performance at the University of Auckland. 
 
He toured Europe extensively giving solo and chamber music concerts in Croatia, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic. 
 
His repertoire covers a wide variety of music from Classical to Jazz.
