Lora Kurusa.

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Lora Kurusa started her study of classical guitar at age 12 after moving to Adelaide, Australia. In 2018, she received her first scholarship to study classical guitar at the Elder Conservatorium’s Open Music Academy with Dr. Oliver Fartach Naini. After moving to New Zealand, she studied with Cherly Grice, Owen Moriarty, then with Dr. Jane Curry, with whom she is currently pursuing her BMus with, majoring in Classical Guitar Performance at the New Zealand School of Music. Lora has had numerous competition successes including first prize at the 2020 Biennial New Zealand International Youth Classical Guitar Competition, and Bronze in the Adelaide Eisteddfod Classical Guitar Competition (youth section 2016), and she was also the recipient of the Freemasons Lankhuyzen/ Whetu- Kaitangi Music Award twice. As a reflection of her skill level, Lora was accepted into the New Zealand School of Music a year prior to finishing high school.
